The Economic Alliance was created in 1992 to provide for “an appointive, advisory body whose purpose shall be to promote existing businesses, attract new businesses to the Village, and to develop and support programs in order to foster and support a Village-wide initiatives towards the promotion of quality economic development.” Since that time the Alliance's role has been modified on multiple occasions to move towards a more advisory role vs. marketing and implementation role.
The Alliance membership would like to refine and adjust the role further to allow it to review business-related ordinances programs prior to the submittal to the Village Board. A recommendation was made in October to a make such an adjustment.
Recommendation
Staff is looking to get further direction from the Village Board.
