The approved 2019 Capital Budget includes $29,136 for the replacement of one pursuit vehicle for the Police Department Detectives. The proposed vehicle is a 2019 Dodge Charger. The current vehicle is in excess of eight years old, and has exceeded its useful life as a Police vehicle. The Fleet Unit of Public Works has inspected this vehicle and determined it is in need of replacement. The current vehicle will be surplused in accordance with Village guidelines.

Staff proposes to purchase the vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC).  SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities. The SPC represents 143 municipalities in the six County area of Northern Illinois and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference.

Napleton Fleet Group, Oak Brook, IL is this year's winning bidder for this vehicle. The Village has worked with Napleton Fleet Group in the past and found them to be acceptable.

The total cost for the pursuit vehicle is $25,027 and funds are available for this purchase in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9503).

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Village Board award the bid to Napleton Fleet Group of Oak Park, Illinois, in the amount of $25,027 for the purchase of a 2019  Dodge Charger for the Police Department, and authorize staff to execute the necessary contracts.
