Item: Police Pursuit Vehicles Purchase - Ford Fusions

The approved 2019 Capital Budget includes $51,431 for the replacement of two pursuit  vehicles for the Police Department Detectives. The proposed vehicles are 2019 Ford Fusions. The current vehicles are in excess of eight years old, and have exceeded their useful lives as  Police vehicles. The Fleet Unit of Public Works has inspected these vehicles and determined they are in need of replacement. The current vehicles will be surplused in accordance with Village guidelines.

 

Staff proposes to purchase the vehicle through the Suburban Purchasing Cooperative (SPC).  SPC is a joint purchasing program for local communities. The SPC represents 143 municipalities in the six County area of Northern Illinois and is administered through the Northwest Municipal Conference.

 

Roesch Ford of Bensenville, IL is this year's winning bidder for this vehicle. The Village has worked with Roesch Ford in the past and found them to be acceptable.

 

The total cost for the two pursuit vehicles is $48,762 and funds are available for this purchase in Account No. 621-9003-572.50-05 (VH9503).

 

RECOMMENDATION

 

It is recommended that the Village Board award the bid to Roesch Ford of Bensenville, Illinois, in the amount of $48,762 for the purchase of two 2019  Ford Fusions for the Police Department, and authorize staff to execute the necessary contracts.
